Chapter One :Chapter 1

In the month of March, the originally azure sky was now engulfed with dense dark clouds. Gusts of wind blew across, causing willow leaves to flutter in the air. Now and then, streaks of lightning would slice through the sky, their bright glare momentarily lighting up the intermittent drizzle that sprinkled the earth.

This gloomy weather seeped into one's mood, making it just as difficult to bear.

Dumbstruck, Jiang Bai sat at the doorstep of his modest rental apartment; his heart felt as though it had been pierced through like the relentless rain before him.

"What kind of sick joke is this!? Where am I? Shui Lan Star? A parallel universe? Did I time travel or am I hallucinating!?”

Snapping back to reality after a while, Jiang Bai slapped himself hard across his handsome cheek in disbelief. Confirming the pain in his cheek, he couldn't help talking to himself.

It was not surprising he would behave this way. If anyone else had woken up from a nap to find themselves ten years younger and in a completely different world, they would likely be even more confused. It needed to be mentioned that Jiang Bai was thick-skinned in this regard, an ordinary person may have been sent to a mental institution by now.

"Shui Lan Star is a parallel world to Earth, the situation is largely similar, with minute details varying slightly. You can simply imagine yourself as on Earth ten years ago. Congratulations, young man, you won the lottery, you've been reborn."

Just when Jiang Bai was lost in confusion, an extremely complacent voice rang in his mind.

"Who are you?"

Jiang Bai was first stunned, then shocked.

This is haunting!

"Me? I am the Great Overlord System! My origin... uh, it's okay if you don't know. Anyway, young man, you are lucky. I've brought you here, and your life will be different from now on. Why worry about so many things? Accumulate your prestige, and I will provide you with endless benefits!"

The voice resounded once again, completely ignoring Jiang Bai's question and began to speak on its own.

"Great Overlord? What the hell is that?"

Jiang Bai was confused; he found himself unable to keep up with his thoughts.

“The Great Rogue System is designed to develop you into an earth-shaking rogue. It operates based on prestige points as the foundation - you can obtain anything you desire through gaining prestige points.”

The system’s voice once again reverberated, waves of information emerging in Jiang Bai's mind, giving him a preliminary understanding of this prestige system.

Simply put, it was just like a game. Jiang Bai had to complete tasks, accumulate experience, and exchange it for whatever he desired - it was that simple.

“Jiang Bai, get your ass down here! How did the task I entrusted you with yesterday go?”

At that moment, a harsh voice echoed in the courtyard.

In this light drizzle, three to four flashy-looking hoodlums kicked open the door of the three-story rental building. As soon as they stepped in, a loud roar ensued, directed at the figure of Jiang Bai sitting behind the rusty railings of the balcony on the third floor.

“Shh…”

Rubbing his head, Jiang Bai began to organize his memory, recalling who this person was.

The blonde in the middle was called Liu Bin, a well-known local punk. He was acquainted with Jiang, but they were not close.

The original Jiang Bai had been timid in nature, always avoiding trouble and never provoking those aggressive personalities. He worked earnestly as a security guard at an entertainment city, living a mundane life, with hopes of finding a nice wife to live a decent life.

The two were like two separate rivers, destined not to intersect in this lifetime.

But ironically, his mother had suddenly asked him to deliver some clothes to his beautiful and extravagant cousin the day before.

Worse, this punk had witnessed it.

As a result, he caught Jiang Bai yesterday without uttering a single word, generously giving him a couple of slaps, wanting Jiang Bai to introduce his graceful cousin to him.

Although Jiang Bai was timid, he certainly couldn't do such a thing.

What this thing was, Jiang Bai didn't fully understand but had a rough idea. There was no way he could push his own cousin into a pit of fire, even though...

Even if he truly wished to do so, he estimated that distant cousin of his wouldn't pay him any heed.

"Ah... I'm here!"

Jiang Bai replied, and without any further ado, he picked up a half piece of brick beside him and walked downstairs.

The former Jiang Bai was a coward, but the current one was different.

Although he wasn't a hero, he had never been afraid of fights and brawls.

Birds will fly high when humans die; if not dead, they live for countless years!

Why would he be scared of such a thing?

"Brother Bin, about what you mentioned, I've given it some thought. Come, come here and let me explain in detail..."

Once Jiang Bai was downstairs, he saw the trio approaching him, he smiled, and then nodded, speaking forthwith in an obsequious manner.

"Hmm? You've thought it through! Hey, clever boy! If what I wanted is really done, nobody will dare to mess with you here, let me tell you..."

Seeing the state of Jiang Bai, Liu Bin thought that the boy was scared. His face lit up with a triumphant smirk, he carefreely stepped closer to Jiang Bai, roaring with laughter. He slapped Jiang Bai's shoulder heartily, indicating that he would look after him once he was "in".

"Drop dead!"

With a "pah" sound, the half piece of brick in Jiang Bai's hand unceasingly smashed onto Liu Bin's head.

Blood instantly spurted from his forehead. With Liu Bin's scream, the brick in Jiang Bai's hand fell for the second time.

"Thwack, thwack, thwack..."

After seven successive smacks, Liu Bin collapsed to the ground, unable to move a muscle, his agonizing screams echoing in the air. Jiang Bai finally wiped off the fresh blood on his arm, and turned his attentions to the two flabbergasted hooligans Liu Bin had brought along, "What are you still doing here? Get him and get lost! If he's got the guts, let him find me in the Big World! Pathetic!"

"Uh..."

These two hooligans were around 22 or 23 years old - the same age as Liu Bin and Jiang Bai. They were usually loudmouths who got into fights, but against Jiang Bai's ruthless onslaught, they were nothing but paper tigers, used to bullying the weak and fearing the strong. They had figured pushing Jiang Bai around would be no big deal, but nobody anticipated this fierce attack – he was out for blood!

When they heard the word "Big World", they were paralysed with shock.

Oh, hell!

This guy was actually from Big World – a high-profile spot in a neighbourhood sprawling across dozens of streets. They were so scared they couldn't even make a sound. Hastily, they dragged Liu Bin and ran away, as swift as a rabbit, their former bluster nowhere to be seen.

"Phew!"

Once they were gone, Jiang Bai let out a long breath.

He had to admit, his physical condition was poor. He was breathless after just those few hits and utterly exhausted. If those two had been tougher opponents, he would have been finished today.

Even so, having chased them away didn't mean the end of this. This was a society under the rule of law, and although Jiang Bai took pleasure in the beating, he couldn't help but feel apprehensive about the aftermath. If Liu Bin chose to call the police, Jiang Bai was in big trouble.

Usually, such hooligans didn't report to the police, but this didn't mean the trouble was over. Fearing their revenge once they figured out the situation, Jiang Bai felt a twinge of fear.

"I can't stay here anymore, I have to leave right away!"

In an instant, Jiang Bai made his decision.

"Ding dong! Initial battle victory, the young man has perfectly faced three alone, congratulations on winning five prestige points!"

Just as Jiang Bai was preparing to leave with a plan in mind, suddenly, the sound of the system echoed in his brain.

However, this appraisal made Jiang Bai couldn’t help but scoff at the thought, this Big Hero system… the words seemed somewhat unpalatable.

And why only five prestige points?

There were three opponents, so how did he get five points?

But soon, Jiang Bai understood.

Because he was astonished to see his neighbors, a man and woman in their twenties, standing stupefied on the third-floor balcony watching him. When they noticed Jiang Bai's attention, they subconsciously shrank their necks and quickly nodded their heads, rushing back into their apartment as if to escape.

This amused Jiang Bai.

If he remembered correctly, those guys used to act high and mighty in front of him due to their age and physical strength. Now, they probably wouldn't dare to do so anymore, an unexpected gain indeed.

"Congratulations, young man, on obtaining prestige points for the first time, completing the initiation of life experience, gaining one chance to a random draw! The road of life is long, it’s about accumulation. Once your prestige points reach a thousand, you can proceed for a second draw..."

"A draw?"

Jiang Bai was stunned at first, and then a massive slot machine appeared before him.

This initially shocked Jiang Bai, and then he realized that only he could see this thing, others can't.

He sighed in relief and relaxed.

Looking closely, the design of this slot machine was different from the common ones. It had three square boxes stacked vertically with the center pointer only pointing to one square, and a chart was beside it showing nine different colored squares.

Apart from the three black spaces, the remaining six spaces consist of three white, one blue, and two purple, with characters written on them respectively.

The three white ones are written, "Reward: 100,000 RMB," "Encounter a beautiful lady once," and "Gain 10 points of fame."

Obviously, these are the most common rewards. Apart from the 100,000 RMB that briefly caught Jiang Bai's eye, he didn't care about the others.

The blue space is much more superior, "Master of Advanced Free Hand Fighting."

This caught Jiang Bai's attention, this is a good thing!

You should know that at present, he's incredibly weak, and regardless of his past or present life, apart from being tough, he doesn't possess any real skills.

If the situation with Liu Bin doesn't come to an end, it would become much safer if he lands on this.

As for the purple square with a question mark, Jiang Bai chose to ignore it and focused his gaze on the other purple square instead.

When Jiang Bai's gaze turned to the purple square, his eyes could no longer move. All thoughts about mastering free hand fighting, or that 100,000 RMB were tossed out of his mind.

Because the big, dizzying characters written on the purple square before him read, "Reward: One chance of becoming incredibly wealthy!"
